New Pia Coffee Table Book Outlines 50 Years of Lupin the Third

Lupin the Third, then to now

Want to get caught up to Lupin the Third, but don't know where to start? A new Pia coffee table book covers half a century of the gentleman thief onscreen, right up to next month's Part 6.

The mook ("magazine book") gives readers a look into the show's extensive history, including character bios and a "Playback" of all animated works since 1971. Cast interviews will see Kanichi Kurita (Lupin), Koichi Yamadera (Zenigata), and the newly-cast Akio Otsuka (Jigen) discussing the past and future of the show, as Daisuke Namikawa (Goemon) and Miyuki Sawashiro (Fujiko) talk about the first ten years in their iconic roles.

There will also be up-to-date news on Part 6, including interviews with director Eiji Suganuma, character designer Hirotaka Marufuji, lead writer Takahiro Okura, and perennial soundtrack composer Yuji Ohno. Plus, special feature columns on the many treasures Lupin has targeted, rivals and heroines across the decades, the show's cool cars, and production materials for Lupin the Third Part 1. Oh, and a collection of sexy Fujiko pictures, naturally.

Some of the contents sound similar to the coffee table book announced last month by TMS Entertainment and Magnetic Press; however, there's no indication of whether the Pia Mook and the upcoming Magnetic Press publication are related.
