The inner body starts protecting us once again when Cells at Work! season 2 TV anime starts airing on January 9, a new trailer for the TV anime based on the manga by Akane Shimizu announced. The trailer previews the newly announced opening and ending themes of the upcoming anime series which will air in Japan alongside its darker counterpart Cells at Work! Black.

Singing the opening theme song "GO! GO! Saibo Fesuta (GO! GO! Cell Festa)" are the voice actors from the series, with ClariS performing the ending theme song "Fight!!", both being previewed in the above trailer for Cells at Work! season 2. "GO! GO! Saibo Fesuta" goes on sale in Japan on January 13 with a newly drawn cover image revealed.

Hirofumi Ogura (Black Bulter II) replaces Kenichi Suzuki as the director of Cells at Work! season 2 at David Production, with the rest of the staff and cast from the first season returning for the second season. The series begins on January 9 at 23:30 on Tokyo MX and affiliated TV stations. The first season of Cells at Work! aired from July 8 to September 30, 2018, and was streamed on Crunchyroll as it aired. Crunchyroll describes the series as such:
