Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka, the first Japanese Tennis player to win the US Open Grand Slam (against Serena Williams), is inspiring a manga series titled Unrivaled NAOMI Tenkaichi from Futago Kamikita, the duo behind the Pretty Cure manga adaptations in the monthly magazine, Nakayoshi. The official Twitter account for the magazine announced the series with a drawing of the main character, based on the image of Osaka but with pink hair!

Naomi Osaka commented on Unrivaled NAOMI Tenkaichi by quote tweeting Nakayoshi's tweet, saying that Mari and herself grew up reading manga, so "this is really exciting for both of us." Mari Osaka is supervising the manga series.

Unrivaled NAOMI Tenkaichi starts in the February issue of Nakayoshi, which goes on sale inside Japan on December 28.
