Two months after Rui Takato's spin-off web manga Pale Blue Dot Battle Athletes Daiundokai ReSTART! started serialization on Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha's manga website Comic Ruelle & Comic Jardin, the upcoming anime project from the Battle Athletes mixed-media franchise in the 1990s is finally confirmed as a new TV anime series titled Battle Athletes Daiundokai ReSTART!.
Along with a teaser visual featuring its two main characters, the TV anime's teaser site opens today, announcing its 2021 premiere. The new anime project was teased in the last page of the web manga's short prologue posted in June.
The sci-fi sports franchise tells heated battles by the elites of sports in the entire solar system for the title of the greatest athlete, Cosmic Beauty. The six-episode OVA Battle Athletes Daiundokai was released from May 1997 to June 1998, and the 26-episode TV anime of the same name (Battle Athletes Victory in the West) was aired from October 1997 to March 1998.
While the details of the new TV anime are currently unknown, the web manga's story is set in in A.D. 5100, 100 years after the original series. In addition to the TV anime, many other developments are planned, such as tie-ups with various sports organizations and athletes.
