The official Twitter account of manga series Kimio Alive, which is currently being serialized in Kodansha's Month Shonen Magazine revealed on August 29 that creator Kousei Eguchi, who also wrote and drew the boys love manga series Boy Meets Maria under the name PEYO, passed away on August 19.
Eguchi was admitted to hospital on August 17, the same day the second volume of Kimio Alive was released in Japan, and died two days later. Eguchi was 23 years old. The statement from the editorial staff did not release the cause of death.

The editorial staff said that "Eguchi-sensei was a very talented writer who had both the strength and warmth to reach the hearts of those who read his books and was able to attract many readers." Eguchi was worried back in late July that the current pandemic would limit the attention of Kimio Alive would have to new readers, Eguchi said in an interview with Oricon (which was summarized by Otaquest). The editorial staff, on the other hand, thought that Kimio Alive was on the cusp of reaching popularity and that they "were confident in the future and had high expectations, so we cannot help but be deeply saddened by the passing."
A funeral with friends and family has already been conducted, and we give them our condolences.
