Miko Yasu's award-winning Police in a Pod manga is about to hit the end of its first part, and it turns out that's the perfect opportunity for Yasu to start something new. According to an interview posted to Kodansha's Comic Days manga site, the series will be going on hiatus for a while after part 1 concludes in this year's 29th issue of Morning magazine, and Yasu is looking to kick off something completely different in the meantime.

The author gave a few hints about the new series without going into details. It's an idea she's been working on for the past three years, and while Police in a Pod's protagonist has a gun, this one will star a male lead who has a sword. The series is set in Japan during a "certain historical period," and much like Police in a Pod, Yasu hopes to serialize it in Morning magazine.
The Police in a Pod manga first kicked off back in November 2017 and inspired a TV anime series in January 2022, with Funimation streaming. Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English and describes it like so:
Female police officer Kawai had enough of a career she wasn't even that into and was about to hand in her registration, when the unthinkable happened—she met the new, female director of her station! And after spending a little time with this gorgeous role model, Kawai realizes that maybe she isn't quite done being an officer after all.
We'll have to wait for further details about Yasu's new project, but it sounds like it could be interesting!
