s-CRY-ed TV Anime Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Audio Drama CD

 

Science fiction action anime s-CRY-ed is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with a new book of production illustrations that comes packaged with a brand new audio drama CD featuring cast and crew members from the original TV production.

 

The s-CRY-ed Official Animation Design Works book features 250 pages of production and promotional artwork, including a new cover illustration by series character designer Hisashi Hirai. The bonus audio drama CD features supervision by Goro Taniguchi and a script by series composer Yōsuke Kuroda. Voice actors Sōichirō Hoshi and Hikaru Midorikawa reprise their roles as Kazuma and Ryuho, respectively.

 

Pre-orders are currently available for s-CRY-ed Official Animation Design Works on the Premium Bandai website, with the final product scheduled to begin shipping in Japan in January of 2022. The book retails for 12,100 yen (about $110 US) including tax.

s-CRY-ed is directed by Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass) and features animation production by Sunrise. The series is currently available on home video in the U.S. via Discotek Media, and it is also available via streaming on Crunchyroll, who describe the story of the series as follows:

 

22 years ago, Tokyo was destroyed by a cataclysmic earthquake. This area became known as the Lost Ground and it gave rise to Alter Users, people with unique psychic abilities to change matter and create Alters with incredible power. To bring order back to the Lost Ground, the special police force HOLO was formed and using Alter Users created HOLY to capture and control the renegade Native Alters. One such renegade is Kazuma. The power of this Alter, Shell Bullet is put to the test when HOLY comes knocking on his door and Kazuma must fight for his freedom and the safety of his friends.
