Aharen-san wa Hakarenai Gets Too Close for Comfort as a TV Anime

Aharen smooshes her face up against the glass display of a UFO catcher machine in an effort to look at the prizes in a scene from the upcoming Aharen-san wa Hakarenai TV anime.

If you're a fan of comedies that are bad at judging personal boundaries, then you're in luck, because Aharen-san wa Hakarenai ("Aharen is Unmeasureable"), a youthful romantic comedy manga by Asato Mizu (DENKI-GAI) about a girl who has difficulty communicating and the classmate that grows closer to her, is being adapted into a TV anime.

The main staff for Aharen-san wa Hakarenai has been revealed, including:

  • Original work: Aharen-san wa Hakarenai by Asato Mizu (serialized in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ magazine)
  • Chief director: Yasutaka Yamamoto
  • Director: Tomoe Makino
  • Series composition: Takao Yoshioka
  • Character design: Yūko Yahiro
  • Music: Satoru Kōsaki & MONACA
  • Animation production: FelixFilm
  • Production: bilibili

The main cast for Aharen-san wa Hakarenai includes:

A character setting of Reina Aharen from the upcoming Aharen-san wa Hakarenai TV anime. Reina is a petite girl with a blank expression, silver hair, and green eyes dressed in a school uniform and a blazer.

Inori Minase as Reina Aharen.

A character setting of Raidou from the upcoming Aharen wa Hakarenai TV anime. Raidou is a tall young man with spikey dark hair and dark eyes who dresses in a dress shirt, tie, slacks, and tennis shoes.

And Takuma Terashima as Raidou.

The story of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai follows the everyday adventures of Reina Aharen, a quiet girl with a blank expression, and Raidou, the boy who sits next to her in class. At first, Raidou assumes that Aharen has a cold personality, but she becomes much more friendly one day after Raidou returns to her an eraser that Aharen had dropped. Unfortunately, Aharen has trouble communicating and is a terrible judge of personal boundaries, always keeping people too close or too far away...

A key visual for the upcoming Aharen-san wa Hakarenai TV anime featuring the main characters Raidou and Reina Aharen posing with a bottled drink and bento lunch boxes. Reina flourishes her chopsticks and throws the horns while sitting in Reido's lap.

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is scheduled to broadcast in Japan beginning in April of 2022. An official website and Twitter feed (@aharen_pr) have also been published for the series.
