In the latest August 2021 issue of Kodansha's shoujo manga magazine Nakayoshi released today in Japan, it was officially announced that Michiko Yokote (story) and Pink Hanamori (art)'s fantasy manga series Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch's new chapter will start serialization in its next September 2021 issue to be released on August 3., 2021. It will have been 16 years since its original series ended.
The title of the new chapter is Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch aqua, and its story will feature a daughter of the protagonist of the original series, Lucia Nanami.
The original manga was serialized in the magazine from 2002 to 2005, then compiled in seven tankobon volumes. Its TV anime adaptation by Actas and SynergySP was aired for two seasons - Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch (52 episodes / April 2013 - March 2014) and Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure (39 episodes / April 2004 – December 2004).
The manga's illustrator Pink Hanamori writes on Twitter, "Thanks to everyone's persistent support, Pichi's new chapter, Pichi Pichi Pitch aqua will be serialized from the September issue of Nakayoshi! Thank you very much! Please look forward to it! Please read it!"
