The Code Geass franchise expands with a brand new TV anime series and smartphone game announced!
The previously teased Code Geass New Project Presentation announced the Code Geass: Z of the Recapture TV anime series, which continues on from the latest anime film, Lelouch of the Re;surrection, and a new smartphone game inspired by the series titled Code Geass: Genesic Re:CODE, which will feature characters previously seen in the franchise.
Directing Code Geass: Z of the Recapture at Sunrise will be Yoshimitsu Ohashi (AMNESIA) with Takahiro Kimura returning to design the characters from the original series and films which were created by CLAMP. Noboru Kimura (Amagami SS+) is penning the scripts. The series will be animated at Sunrise.
The Code Geass: Genesic Re:CODE smartphone game is scheduled to be released in spring 2021 and is said to be a "culmination of Code Geass, collection all current and future Code Geass works." The game will feature stories from the anime series as well as new stories based in the Code Geass universe with gameplay being both simulation and role-playing based. The game will feature new animation done at Sunrise.
