Yoshio Sawai's comedy manga Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo started serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump just twenty years ago from today, February 20, 2001, and ran for six years. To celebrate the memorial day, Toei Animation, which worked on the manga's 76-episode TV anime adaptation from 2003 to 2005, release a special visual featuring the manga's seven main characters - Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Beauty, Heppokomaru, Don Patch, Tokoro Tennosuke, Softon, and Hatenkou.
Also from 17:00 today (JST), a special online event with the anime's voice actors will be streamed on Nico Nico Live, which is the first time in the history of Bobobo. The five VAs are - Takehito Koyasu (Bobobo Bobobo), Masaya Onosaka (Donpatch), Ai Nonaka (Beauty), Naomi Shindo (Heppokomaru), and Tomoko Kaneda (Dengakuman).
The 20th-anniversary online event will include a talk session looking back on those days, a quiz corner about Bobobo, and an open voice recording of episodes from the manga that have not yet been animated. There will also be a viewer participation section where viewers can win items signed by the manga author Sawai and the voice cast members.
