CNN's Chris Cuomo frets that the U.S. is nowhere near ready to face Russian election meddling in 2020

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been very clear about the Russian government interfering in the 2016 presidential election, CNN's Chris Cuomo said on Wednesday, but not enough people are listening. In his report, Mueller said Russia meddled in a "sweeping and systematic fashion," and on Wednesday, he reiterated that "there were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election, and that allegation deserves the attention of every American." That's getting lost in all the impeachment talk, Cuomo said, and while most people are ignoring the threat, hacking capabilities are improving, social media propaganda is getting more sophisticated, and election infrastructure is still vulnerable. President Trump refuses to recognize that Russia interfered in the election, Cuomo said, even though "no one who knows a damn thing about anything to do with securing our country or our elections thinks that Russian interference is a small deal." Denying Russian meddling isn't a good look, he added, and only makes people think Trump is fine with it and wouldn't even take issue with Russia getting to the votes. If anything is clear, it's that Russia has seen how effective their interference was, as their "efforts put us at each other's throats," and they have "every incentive to go bigger than ever," Cuomo said.
