Despite still having one year left on his contract, Marvin Lewis was fired from his head coaching job with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN. Lewis coached the team for 16 seasons and holds the franchise record for most wins as a head coach with 131. His total record with the team was 131-122-3, however, he was unable to record a single playoff win, going 0-7. Lewis also struggled against the team's divisional rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, posting an 8-26 record. Rumors of Lewis being fired by the team have been looming for years. The team made the playoffs five seasons in a row between 2011 and 2015, but the team's struggles in the postseason made fans frustrated with Lewis' tenure. Despite being given a vote of confidence during last year's offseason by the team's owner, Lewis led the Bengals to a 6-10 record making them the worst team in the AFC North. Joe Robbins/Getty Images In a report by ESPN, Bengals attendance was at its lowest since 2011 which further shows just how upset Bengals fans were with the status quo. Although perhaps quarterback Andy Dalton's injury could also be a factor in why the team failed to perform this season. Lewis isn't the only coach to be fired today. The Denver Broncos fired head coach Vance Joseph while the Miami Dolphins fired Adam Gase.
