Happy New Year! Beach Boy Mike Love, CCR's Doug Clifford share 2019 and New Year's plans

Udo Spreitzenbarth; Jeff Dow It's time to ring in the New Year, and with 2019 arriving at midnight tonight, a couple of well-known musicians have shared their plans for the year with ABC Radio. The Beach Boys have dozens of concerts lined up next year, both in the U.S. and Europe, and Mike Love says he's especially excited about heading across the pond, where the group will tour in June and July. "We're gonna be spending, wow, like a month and a half or so in Europe," Love points out, adding that "The Beach Boys at one time were voted the number one group in England, number two being The Beatles and four The [ Rolling ] Stones . That was in 1966." The 77-year-old singer declares, "It's fascinating to me to be performing in Germany, and people actually like our music. Because English…is not their first language, but they love the beat, they love the sound, they love the whole concept." Meanwhile, founding Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford has a pair of New Year's Eve concerts with his spinoff group Creedence Clearwater Revisited at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California. "We don't do New Year's shows too often," Clifford tells ABC Radio. "We generally take the holidays off, but New Year's, it's different than Christmas for sure, and I'm kind of looking forward to staying up late."
