Love Live! Sunshine!! VA Unit Aqours' Outdoor Concerts on May 1 & 2 are Canceled

The official website for the Love Live! franchise has announced that "Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours 5th Anniversary LoveLive! ~LET'S GO WONDER TRIP~," the outdoor concert by the VA unit Aqours has been canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the declaration of a state of emergency in four prefectures in Japan.

As part of their fifth-anniversary project, the concert was scheduled to be held at  Tsumagoi Resort Sai no Sato, a resort hotel in Kakegawa-city, Shizuoka Prefecture, on May 1 and 2, 2021. It was supposed to be their first outdoor concert in the prefecture, where the anime's main story took place.

A state of emergency has not yet been declared in Shizuoka Prefecture, but the prefecture's expert panel on the COVID-19 pandemic has decided that large-scale events scheduled in the prefecture should be canceled for the time being. Based on the decision, the organizer has decided to cancel the two-day concert on the scheduled date, considering the safety of the venue's neighbors, visitors, performers, staff, and other related parties as their first priority.

The statement writes, "Celebrating the fifth anniversary of the formation of Aqours, the members and production staff had been working together to prepare to deliver the best performance as its memorial concert. We are very disappointed with this result, but we will do our best to hold the concert on another day, so please wait for a while," and adds, "We are currently trying to arrange a replacement date for the concert, but please understand that we may have no choice but to cancel the concert itself if we are unable to arrange a new date."
