LeBron James is going to give up jersey No. 23 so Anthony Davis can keep wearing the number with the Lakers, according to Yahoo! Sports. Davis wore Michael Jordan’s number during all seven of his seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, and also during his one-and-done year at the University of Kentucky. Of course, James also wore the legendary 23 beginning his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but switched to No. 6 for four seasons with the Miami Heat because of the 23 being retired for Jordan. James said that he chose the No. 6 in Miami for several reasons — his youngest child was born Oct. 6, his second child born in June and the number is his Team USA number as well. The No. 6 jersey is one of James’ options with the Lakers, who have 11 jerseys retired.
