TOKYO, Japan –June 28th, 2019 - MyDearest Inc. and Spicy Tails, the indie label led by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice and Wolf novel series, have announced that they have started a new project under the name of “AniVR Japan.” Through Japanese VR content, they seek to build a new community among Japan and the United States. Isuna Hasekura, the novelist behind the "Spice and Wolf" franchise, has been making forays into Japan and the United States.
TOKYO CHRONOS and Spice and Wolf VR have raised almost one million dollars through their crowdfunding projects. In order to grow these projects further with a worldwide focus, they have jointly decided to start this project. “AniVR Japan” will start its tour at “Anime Expo 2019” followed by “Crunchyroll Expo 2019,” “Tokyo Game Show 2019,” and “Anime NYC 2019.” To this end, we have established “AniVR Japan” to enhance the global awareness of Japanese VR content. We hope that “AniVR Japan” will increase the quantity of Japanese VR content and grow the VR market with anime and game titles.
“AniVR Japan” will go overseas to bring a huge wave of attention to the Japanese VR community. The project's name itself combines all the elements essential and to this project as "AniVR Japan" will proudly present Japan's unique anime VR experiences to new users, creators, gamers, and audiences all over the world. The "AniVR Japan" name was jointly created by MyDearest and Anime NYC.

Messages from the project owners of AniVR Japan
Kento Kishigami - MyDearest Inc. CEO
Currently, the mainstream of VR games is mainly FPS mostly in western countries. Of course, they are all wonderful works and great games.
However, are those the only games we want in VR?
I say “No.”
And this is why I went to see Isuna Hasekura and asked him, “Would you like to work together to create the virtual world where Japanese anime characters become the mainstream?”
“Spice and Wolf VR” is my favorite VR game and indeed one of the greatest VR contents so far. And we’ve made “TOKYO CHRONOS” with all our might.
This is going to be the prologue of the new VR world where anime characters make their own futures.
Isuna Hasekura – Spicy Tails Representative
When people experience VR for the first time, they find a new world. However, I believe everyone finds a different “new world.” It may be some country you’ve never been, someplace you can’t usually enter, or someplace where you can meet someone you can’t usually see. Therefore, we could say that VR is a kind of mirror which shows what players desire.
In VR, we have found a world where anime characters live.
Farewell to the reality! Hello, 2D world!
Let’s get to an adventure with the characters in your favorite anime.

Message from official project supporter
Peter Tatara - Anime NYC Event Director
I have been able to experience what the MyDearest and Spicy Tails teams are creating first hand, and I can't wait to share this with more fans in the USA. Anime fans dream of going inside anime, and - for the first time - AniVR Japan makes these dreams come true. There is absolutely nothing like immersing yourself in anime through VR, and the AniVR Japan project will now bring the best of Japan to fans across the world - uniting the whole world to enjoy Japan's creativity like never before. Anime NYC is very excited to be part of the AniVR Japan Tour!
