Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the Castlevania-inspired platformer from Koji Igarashi, the mind behind Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, announced a new development partner today. Wayforward, the studio behind the Shantae series of games as well as 2013's DuckTales: Remastered among other quality 2D platformers, is assisting with development.
Along with the comment above from the announcement, Igarashi also pointed out that one of Wayforward's staff members actually worked on one of his previous projects which he says is encouraging.
It's unclear exactly what Wayforward's role will be as Igarashi only says the studio will act as support and will be helping without offering more details.

Our Take
Bloodstained shares some parallels with Mighty No. 9 in terms of the history of its talent and what it is trying to achieve which makes me wary to get too excited about Bloodstained. That being said, I love Igarashi's Castlevania games, and Wayforward seems like the perfect fit to help bring this kind of game to life. It could be the perfect fit.
