Other than the hardware, Apple also released its highly anticipated iOS 12.1 firmware for all supported iPhone and iPad models. The real question besides the added features is the performance boost that it brings on older devices. YouTube channel iAppleBytes have conducted a speed test comparison on older iPhone models running iOS 12.1 and iOS 12.0.1. Let’s dive in to see the changes. On the iPhone 5S, we can see that the difference in performance is negligible. In iOS 12, animations and transitions are more or less equal to iOS 12.0.1. App launch times are similar as well.
