A press conference for the forthcoming musical adaptation of Tomoko Ninomiya's romantic comedy manga Nodame Cantabile was held on March 20 in Tokyo, where it was announced that Juri Ueano — who played the main heroine Megumi Noda in the live-action TV drama and film series from 2006-2010 — will reprise her role.

The live-action TV drama adaptation of the classical music-themed manga aired for 11 episodes in Japan from October to December 2006. A two-part sequel film followed in December 2019 and April 2010, respectively.
Meanwhile, in place of the live-action series' Hiroshi Tamaki, Hiroki Miura is newly cast as the male protagonist Shinichi Chiaki. Miura is well-known for his portrayal of Monkey D. Luffy in the ONE PIECE LIVE ATRRACTION show at Tokyo One Piece Tower and Keigo Atobe in The Prince of Tennis musicals.
The Nodame Cantabile musical is set to open at the Theater Crea in Tokyo in October 2023. Ikko Ueda (Your Lie in April musical) is attached to direct.
