Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You Film Starts Voice Recording Sessions

The official Twitter for Makoto Shinkai's forthcoming new anime feature film Tenki no Ko/Weathering

With You has reported that voice recording sessions by it two main voice cast, Kotaro Daigo as Hodaka

Morishima and Nana Mori as Hina Amano, started on April 27.

18-year-old actor Kotaro Daigo is best known as Sakamichi Onoda in the Yowamushi Pedal stage plays.

His character Hodaka Morishima is a high school student who runs away from his home on an isolated

island and gets a living-in position at a small production company for magazines in Tokyo. 17-year-old

actress Nana Mori will appear as Yoriko Kosaka in the upcoming live-action film Tokyo Ghoul 2 to be

released in July 2019. Her character Hina Amano is a girl who has a strange power that can clear the

sky by her prayer.

Meanwhile, director Shinkai also reported on his official Twitter today on April 30 that he had finished

writing the film's novelization. It is set to be released from Kadokawa Bunko on July 18, 2019, one

day before the film's theatrical release in Japan.

In the tweet, he is asking his fans what kind of questions they want to ask for the novel's afterword.

"I finally finished writing 'Weathering With You The Novel'! I think it has become something worth reading.

I would be glad if you are excited about it. I want to write a short afterword, so is there anything you want

to read or ask? If any, it would really help me to know your opinion-!"

Shinkai's seventh feature film is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 19, 2019, distributed by Toho.
